Issue 174 – June 2016

June 1, 2016 in Editorial

binb_june-16-cover-webI'm sure we were all sad to hear of the passing of Cliff Stocker recently so we have put him in our Big Picture feature looking happy and content on stage. The British Blues Awards 2016 are under way and you’ll find a full list of all the nominations on Page 15. Two of our regular contributors pose the question 'Is it time for Alt Blues?' See what you think and let us know at editor@bluesinbritain.org. Also in this month’s magazine we talk to Russell ‘Hitman’ Alexander, Debbie Bond and Moreland & Arbuckle, all of whom are on tour here around the UK this month. We catch up with Mark Harrison and The Yellow Dog Rhythm & Blues Band introduce themselves. As usual we have your gigs, festivals and new release reviews and you can see what’s happening in your area with the Gig and Festival Guides, interesting to see that Terminal 2 at Heathrow is a blues venue! If you’re staying in and listening to the radio for your blues then check out the Radio Guide on Page 42. This month you can win a full weekend family pass valued at £283 for the Burton Agnes Jazz & Blues Festival by answering a simple question. All the details are on the back inside cover. Enjoy the read and go see some live music. Until next month – Enjoy Yer Blues!
