Issue 184 – April 2017

March 26, 2017 in Editorial, Uncategorized

The North are getting more than their fair share of attention in this month’s edition as we get an update on the live music scene (with the emphasis on blues) in Sunderland, we hear from Newcastle based band Broken Levee and Salford based Norman Beaker about being inducted into the American Blues Hall of Fame. On tour in April will be Marcus King and our cover artist Erja Lyytinen, so we get some background on them, whilst we also talk to Krissy Matthews who has a few appearances here, but spends most of his time touring abroad. Talking of touring abroad, Zoe Schwarz has just come back from touring the Czech Republic and guitarist Rob Koral tells us all about it and compares it to playing gigs in the UK. Mick McConnell has sort of moved away from ‘Living Next Door To Alice’ and has gone back to his Blues Roots with a new solo album – we get the address!

The Festival Guide (Page 39) is bulging and there are still great value early bird tickets to be had also check out the extensive Gig Guide starting on Page 34.

Enjoy the read and get out and see some live music, until next month – Enjoy Yer Blues!
