Issue 195 – March 2018

February 26, 2018 in Editorial, Uncategorized

In our News section this month we report on a new venue in Surrey, we wish them well, but sadly this month we also have three obituaries of members of the blues fraternity.

Previously we’ve brought to your attention the antics of northerners George Shovlin and this month we find him and George Lamb playing blues in a Launderette! While two other acoustic players from the Midlands have recorded their songs but won’t be going out on tour! Check out Slide Tracked Blues on page 44. Those of you who have been to the Skegness festival weekends in January will have seen Sally Newhouse dashing from one venue to another, taking pictures, so we asked her to compile a montage for us from this year’s event.

Lil’ Jimmy Reed is on tour, so we found out a bit more about this bluesman with roots in 40’s. Laurence Jones, Will Wilde, Andy Gunn and Zoe Schwarz all have new albums and will be touring so we had a chat with them as well to find out what you can expect.

As always we bring you gig and album reviews and our comprehensive gig and festival guides along with the Radio Guide.

Until next month, get out and see some live music and enjoy yer blues.
