Issue 236 – August 2021

July 29, 2021 in Editorial, Uncategorized

This month we’re on the trail of our usual eclectic cast of musos who all call the blues their home, no matter how they choose to decorate it: from Troy Redfern to Suitcase Sam, Clarence Spady to The Roadside Bandits Project, or Watermelon Slim to the one and only Tito Jackson. We send belated 80th birthday greetings to His Bobness and to Eric Burdon and Trevor Hodgett doffs his hat in reappraisal of their respective first recorded outputs. And over a series of lengthy phone calls, most of which, no matter what time of day, seemed to take place while he was stuck in traffic on the A41, the genial Bernie Marsden talked to me about his love of the blues, his new albums, writing with Mr. Bonamassa (that man again), Whitesnake and so much more. Too much in fact, to cram into one feature, so we’ve spun it out across this issue and September’s too.
Go Well.
