IF IT WAS NOT FOR JOHN MAYALL &ALIXIS KORNER I DON,T THINK PETER GREEN ERIC CLAPTON AND ALL THE REST OF THE BRITTISH BLUES MOVEMENT WOULD NOT HAVE BEEN HERE
I don’t agree with the statement made by Gordon Gibson. After reading Eric Clapton’s Autobiography it is clear that his passion for blues would have led him towards a career based around this genre of music. John Mayall may well have made an influence as he did on so many musicians who passed through his band over the years but this is not to say that without John or Alexis the British blues movement would not have happened. It clearly would have but with subtle differences. To draw on a similar example, it would be like saying commercial radio in the UK would not have happened if it was not for the pirate radio ships of the 60’s.
Fabulous clip. You can see that Peter Green is really enjoying the irony of singing “Rattlesnake Shake” in the rec room of the Playboy Club…
Number one in my book too. Can’t beat Peter Green’s slow blues. Still very underrated.
Always been Peter that steered me to want to listen to the blues, and want to play them too. A true Master.
